HIDDEN GEM OF BAVARIA. Thursday 10th – Tuesday 15th September 2020. £725.00pp

Mittenwald.  Situated on the borders of Germany and Austrian lies the Bavarian town of Mittenwald. Probably the most beautiful town in the Bavaria Alps and little know.
You can’t be failed to be impressed with the Karwendel Alps, the most extensive mountain range of the Northern Alps.

Mittenwald known as the ‘ village of a thousand violins’ being where the majority of violins in the world are handmade. Visit the violin museum ( Giegenbaumuseum) a stones throw from our hotel. The Obermarkt is the main street in Mittenwald with the beautiful 14th c St Peters church at one end. Want to see fabulous views , then the cable car
(karwendelbahn) , which leaves from behind Mittenwald railway station is worth the trip. Although 30 euros on a perfect day you can see for miles.

Take the free bus, courtesy of your Alpenwelt Tourist Card, to visit 2 beautiful lakes nearby, just a short bus ride away Ferchensee lake and Lautersee Lake. Perfect to take a gentle easy walk around, but if feeling more energetic, there are bigger walks to tempt you.
