Spanish master, Salvador Dalí, is among the most versatile and prolific artists of the twentieth century and the most famous Surrealist artist. His home has been turned into a world class museum and art gallery in Port Lligat, a short stroll along the coast from Cadaques. We visit his birthplace in Figueres, The Dali Theatre-Museum, and second most visited museum in Spain!
Facing the Mediterranean Sea at the head of a crystal clear bay, Cadaqués was a favourite of Salvador Dalí, Picasso and Chagall who were drawn to the area’s incredible light and sea breezes. Cadaques remains a favourite spot for artists and is popular with weekenders from Barcelona. A former fishing village that was once only accessible by sea, Cadaques sits on the far North-East of Spain, in Catalonia. It is right on the edge of the Cap de Creus Peninsula, where the Pyrenees mountains meet the sea, just south of the French border.
Staying in Hostel el Ranxo . Hostal el Ranxo offers accommodation in Cadaqués, 900 metres from Salvador Dali’s House and a 2 minute walk to the beach. All rooms have a private bathroom. Guests can have a cocktail at the bar. Breakfast is available every morning. .Port lligat, home was Dali’s summer house, which has now been converted into a fantastic museum. The beautiful Cap de Creus Nature Reserve lies just beyond and features in many of Dalí’s paintings.
A day trip to Figueres. The birthplace of Salvador Dalí. Figueres, is famous because of the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which is the second most visited museum in all of Spain, after the Prado Museum in Madrid. Also enjoy a number of fine buildings, apart from the famous Dalí museum, plus some other great museums – the Toy Museum of Catalonia, The Emporda Region Museum and the Technical Museum. Good food and shopping as well. Also included is a visit to the castle – Castell de Sant Ferran

Girona I one of the most historic sites in Spain, Girona lies in northeast Catalonia, just 99 km (62 mi) from Barcelona. Founded by Romans, the city later was taken over by Moors and Franks before finally falling under the rule of Barcelona. Influenced by different cultures and religions, the city beckons visitors with beautiful architecture. The Old and New Town offer many opportunities to pleasurably get lost and observe local life and culture.
